IDSC Organizes Training Course in Collaboration with MCS to Raise Cybersecurity Awareness for Government Employees
The Information and Decision Support Center (IDSC) of the Cabinet of Ministers, in collaboration with Mideast Communication Systems (MCS), the regional distributor and consulting partner for cybersecurity solutions and products in Egypt and Africa, organized the second training session titled “Security Awareness for Every Employee.” The event featured the participation of Mandiant, a global company under Google Cloud, aiming to raise awareness among government staff about cybersecurity risks and promote the safe use of IT tools while reinforcing the concepts of digital transformation.
The event was attended by Eng. Osama El-Fayoumi, Head of the IT Sector at IDSC; Dr. Yasser Darwish, Director of Public Relations at IDSC; Eng. Mohamed Hossam, Strategic Channel Manager at MCS; Mr. Jamil Abu Aql, Regional Director of System Engineers for the Middle East and Africa at Mandiant; and Mr. Fath Korankawy, Regional Sales Director for Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and Bahrain at the company.
Osama El-Gohary, Assistant to the Prime Minister and Head of the Information and Decision Support Center, emphasized the center’s commitment to developing work tools, especially in the digital sphere, and promoting digital transformation concepts among various employees. He noted that establishing major partnerships in this context with leading technology companies contributes to achieving the center’s objectives and plans for drafting a roadmap for digital transformation regarding all its activities and tasks as a leading government think tank.
Eng. Tarek Shabaka, Chairman of Mideast Communication Systems (MCS), expressed his pleasure in collaborating with the IDSC to develop government staff skills in addressing digital risks and cybersecurity challenges. He explained that the training course, which included notable participation from the governorates of South Sinai, Aswan, and Sharqia, reflects a full belief in the importance of the private sector’s role in conveying technological updates and protection mechanisms to government staff across the country to support digital transformation and achieve sustainable development goals.
It is worth noting that the two-day course covered several key topics, including an introduction to what security awareness is and its importance, as well as an overview of common security threats such as phishing, social engineering, and malware. The course also addressed methods for securing social media and passwords, explained the concept of physical security through securing the workspace, devices, and data, as well as data security and privacy, in addition to protecting personal and professional information and how to respond in case of an online attack.
